April 5th Update on Fundraising
We are excited about our progress with the second phase (environment) of our fundraising campaign as of fall 2020.
1. picnic shelter has been completed - including picnic tables
325+ trees, all donated and planted by volunteers. They have been planted around the picnic shelter, on the south side of the building and to the east, along our Creekside property. Special thanks to Joseph Niekarz, Darren McEwan, and Gerry Palidwor for help with the donations, digging of the trees and planting the trees.
2. Landscape plan for the entrance area to the building has been completed. Quotes have been received. Landscaping hopefully will be proceeding this summer.
3. Landscape plan for south side of the building and patio area is in the planning stage. Elements will include memory stones for the patio and walkways, a pergola, planters and benches. Naming rights for each of the features will be offered to community members.
4. Under Covid restrictions, a celebration is being planned for the commemoration of the picnic shelter in the name of Beverley Lewis. Bev’s husband Bruce Lewis was one of the major donors for the project. Celebration date: TBA
5. Donor wall will be updated this summer to indicate recent contributions by community members.
July 15, 2020 Update on Fundraising
Construction has been complete for a few months and with COVID hitting the globe, the Community Centre ended up closing down for a few months as per the Government of Manitoba. We are gearing back up now with programming and events, and as always, we are still fundraising for the Expansion!
We still have a ways to go in our fundraising efforts. If you would like to make a first time donation or make an additional donation to help “close the gap”, please contact Zoe Thompson at 1(204)444-2242 or [email protected].
As always, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity. Grassroots movements like these would not exist without the wonderful community we have.

January 25, 2019 Update on Fundraising
While construction is almost complete, fundraising continues. We had a fun, family Wing Night January 19th to break up the winter blues with cold beer, hot wings, followed by ice cream during –34 Temps. Over 100 people attended. All proceeds went to the Expansion.
Your donations this year have helped bring this exciting project to where it is today and the encouragement we have received from your support keeps our committee and volunteers hard at work to get the job completed.
So far community donations from individuals, families, foundations and businesses along with support from the RM of Springfield and the Province of Manitoba has resulted in approximately $1,000,000 raised from our efforts over the last several years.. This is a terrific accomplishment, but we have more to go to reach our $1.4 million goal. We are winding up the first phase of our campaign February 14th, 2019. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested in this work or you would like to make an additional donation to help “close the gap”, please contact Zoe Thompson at 1(204)444-2242 or [email protected].
As you probably know, donors will be recognized on a permanent donor plaque which will be unveiled at the opening celebration. Make sure your name is there forever!
Once again, thank you for your support and encouragement. Cooks Creek is On The Move and soon the expanded Centre you have helped build will be our new home for community celebration and activities for all.
